In James Sears’ scary Libertarian Christian utopia, people would have the “rights” to discriminate against others based on things like race, gender, age, religion or sexual orientation:
“No matter how reprehensible it may seem to others, you even have the right to refuse to employ, work with, serve or associate with someone based on his or her race, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, etc.”
Sears’ proposed safeguarding of hatred and discrimination goes even further than the recent controversial law passed in Indiana by anti-gay republicans, to include any kind of discrimination, not just homophobia.
“These RFRAs have become the new anti-gay initiatives,” Sanders said. “The symbolism and the politics of the law are far more troubling and far more toxic than the actual substance of what the law will do itself.”
